Right here is where I have been putting how great my team is and how I am proud of them but unfortunately today is a different story.
We haven’t had a team practice for the last 2 weeks and it showed today. I wasn’t planning on not having a practice, especially with us playing the undefeated Waves today but I am still just way too sick. It’s been a week since I caught this cold and I only feel worse. I am sure my depression isn’t helping me beat it either.
Today’s game really made me wish that I had an assistant coach. I am sure that he could have drawn up some plays better than my groggy self today. My throat is so sore that my voice is gone. You can really only understand me when I whisper. As you know when you are coaching in a game, you cannot whisper. It does not motivate your team and in a high school gym, no-one will hear the whisper; not that all of the kids would listen anyway. In fact, my voice was so shot that I had a bad sub mix up and one of my better players played 5 minutes less than I wanted. In those 5 minutes, this player could have easily put up 8 points.
It felt like 99.9% of today’s loss was because of my decisions to cancel practice or not getting through to the kids. 3 of my kids fouled out. This could easily be prevented because when we do practice, I drill in the importance of not acting guilty after the whistle is blown.
The other .1% was my team walking in to the game intimidated by the Waves record. We played with our heads down and it showed. We never had the lead and as I said 3 of my players fouled out. I am thankful that we had all of our players (my player who missed the last game after being sick is 100% and was able to play).
We will practice before Saturday no matter what. We may play the Aztecs but I don’t want to be the first team to lose to them. We lost by 22.
Bruins 60 Jayhawks 57 OT
Trojans 85 Matadors 61
Longhorns 67 Aztecs 66
Hurricanes 67 Huskies 55
1. Waves 8-0
2. Hurricanes 6-2
3. Bruins 5-3
4. Jayhawks 4-4

4. Spartans 4-4
7. Matadors 3-5
7. Trojans 3-5
9. Longhorns 1-6
10. Aztecs 0-8 next game
Another game, another win. There is not much to say about this win. We played a team who’s only win was a close game to the Trojans who only had one win entering today themselves. I gave one of my players my cold so he wasn’t at the game. We didn’t need him.
Not that it matters but I am still sick. I actually feel worse. I sat on the bench most of the game, didn’t even yell words of encouragement. I don’t remember calling any time outs; I didn’t need too. I was zoning out and drinking water with my bench players. It was the first game that I remember sitting down ever. I that just goes to show you how sick I am. FYI: coaching is not this easy.
I hope the Longhorns coach wasn’t offended. It was obvious he was coaching his guts out today and still failed. His team just didn’t have the talent to compete with mine. I should call him and tell him that it was a great game and make sure that he knows that I respect him and his team. He is one of the few nice guys that coach in this league.
We won by about 25. I would post the score but I honestly don’t remember it. Maybe my brother does.
Hurricanes 50 Bruins 39
Trojans 30 Jayhawks 26
Waves 80 Matadors 60
Huskies 77 Aztecs 20
1. Waves 7-0 next game, hope I am feeling better because I would love to be the first to beat the giant at the top
2. Hurricanes 5-2
3. Jayhawks 4-3
3. Bruins 4-3
3. Huskies 4-3
3. Spartans 4-3
7. Matadors 3-4

I was watching TNA and all I saw were the fans all had beer unless they were kids. I have a point of view on this from 3 perspectives: a wrestling fan who has attended several events where they serve beer with a child, a rock star (well not star but a performer), and a teacher/coach.
I have a few golden rules in my life. One of them is to never drink alcohol in front of a child. If you see me at team parties, wrestling events, or even restaurant nights: I will never have an alcoholic drink in my hand. Once I went to a restaurant fundraiser for a school that I worked at with Mrs. Rose and we wanted to drink some margaritas so we begged the waiters to put us in the back and away from the kids. I don’t even think that places like Chuck E Cheese or wrestling events that have kids should serve beer.
As most of you know, I attend just about every PWG event. Well, my brother is the loud mouth kid who is always yelling at the wrestlers. I hate it when drunk people react to him; it scares me. I have seen people get in his face and yell, people flip him off (which is a other story but basically I have no problem if you curse in the show but to direct it at a kid is my problem), some people even throw there beer at him. How do I explain to my mom that my brother smells like beer because a drunk guy threw beer at him? More importantly, how do I explain to my brother why these people are acting childish around him? Drunk people are children in adult bodies. I have no problem standing up for my brother but I do not want to get in a fight with a drunk guy and 5 of his friends who are also hammered so most of the time, I have to keep my mouth shut or tell my brother to be mature and stop acting his age. I have yet to see it in a wrestling event but one of these days, a drunk guy will hop the ropes and attack someone.
I have also had problems at concerts with drunk people; and not just in the pit. I have seen drunk people come up on the stage and harass members of the band mid song more than once. I hate having to watch my back in the pit for the fear of accidentally hitting a drunk too hard.
Look, I understand that beer brings revenue. Beer is extremely cheap revenue. I understand that money runs the world and helps promoters pay for the talent (wrestlers/bands). But look, we have bars and clubs for people to get drunk in. They go to these places for the specific reason of getting drunk with their friends and leaving with a new friend. When I go to a concert or a wrestling, I go for the concert. Take away the alcohol, it creates a hostile environment. People are at said events for the purpose of seeing the show.
I live in the heart of USC country so I feel that I have a right to comment on Pete Carroll. Carroll was a god in LA and amongst Trojans fans. USC fans became crazy under his reign. Cops had double shifts on days that USC lost. I once talked to a cop and he said we have to be at so and so if the Trojans lose. LA never had that dedication with its fans, just ask the Rams and Raiders but under Carroll LA did.
USC was never thought of as LA’s team. If anything it was more of a UCLA town if there was a college team that was LA’s team. Thanks to Carroll USC is as relevant as th Dodgers and Lakers. He is in the same breath as LA great coaches Phil Jackson and Tommy Lasorda.
I know that I can speak for all of LA when I saw: we will miss Pete Carroll.
Coaching Cameron Rose – Game 1
January 6, 2010
Well today was our first game and it couldn’t have gone any worse. We played the Hurricanes and they crushed us. I can’t even blame it on the other coach for cheating. He only had one auto pick and that was his son in the first round. He also had his 4th or 5th round pick (I honestly didn’t care. Actually I take that back, this team and league have me too stressed out to care) out because he was on vacation.
My team basically gave the Hurricanes the game. We got 10 or so rebounds and they were all from one player. I swear that my team is afraid of the ball. A bunch of turnovers were caused by passes of kids who seemed like they were afraid of the ball. Well you know what, we are playing dodge-ball at the next practice with basketballs.
Final score was 68 to 28. Mercy rule was in full effect by halftime (when it is aloud to go in affect. Mercy rule in this league is 30 and all that means is no full court press).
Some of the highlights of the game:
-My brother fouled out 3 minutes into the game. That means 5 fouls in 3 minutes. I was told by the referee that was basically a new record. They wanted me to take him out of the game after the third foul but I wanted to teach my brother what a foul was because I was obviously doing a terrible job at teaching him. It is also something I believe (leaving a kid in to work out his slump), especially with basketball. While I do believe in positive reinforcement (having someone blow a whistle and stopping the game to tell the official scorer that you fucked up while you are in front of a crown is not positive reinforcement to me), I think that it is a vital teaching opportunity to leave a kid in the game (if he can’t get his shot to go in, etc) to fix what he is doing wrong and adjust. That way he focuses on the adjustment and it will become second nature he won’t have to worry the next time he goes out. However that does not work with some kids and my brother is in that bunch. I won’t do that to him again.
- Another kid fouled out.
- When I pulled out my star player, the other team went on a huge run. Basically 16 – 0. They stole the ball at will.
- It seemed like the refs were giving us phantom foul calls. I didn’t why half the calls were made. I know, a coach complaining that his team got calls in a game. I want this game to be fair.
Other scores:
Bruins 55 Trojans 44
Waves 80 Aztecs 15 (it is nice knowing that we were not the only team getting buried today)
Jayhawks 39 Longhorns 38 OT
Huskies 40 Matadors 29

If Florida beats Alabama tonight then I am giving them the National Championship because of their past dominance. Alabama was just resurected under Nick Saban. I would rather pay to see Boise St vs Cincy than TCU against any of them in the non title game. Boise St is a perennial contender, TCU has really just established itself the past couple of years. I gotta be honest though, I would love to see Boise St in a title game just once. Bottom line is this year above every other year proves the need for a final four scenario.
Note: I am not saying that Alabama is not deserving of the National Championship. They are just on the young side. They play in the toughest division and beat Florida so they will deserve it.
Right now, it is 7:20 left in the 2nd quarter of the Alabama/Florida game and Alabama is kicking Florida’s ass.
Please hire me

So for the past 2 and a half months, I have been volunteering in a 4th grade class. I have worked with 4th grade kids (coaching) but never in a classroom setting. Little did I know that I was a great 4th grade teacher. I can teach multiplication better than most teachers. Most teachers don’t know how to teach 45 times 58 but for some reason I can do it. I was proud of myself the other day when I (a 24 year old with 2 months of 4th grade experience, but about 8 years of experience working in a classroom) was able to out-teach a 30 year veteran 3rd grade teacher who was substituting for the class. She didn’t know how to teach multiplication but when I explained it, the kids understood.
So please someone hire me. I would make a great high school football coach and I can be an aide or do many other various things that are needed at a school. I have tons of references. Please get in touch at mrcameronrose@hotmail.com
This is legit, I am actually begging for a job.
Every year I fantasize about what the NFL would be like if they had a bowl system, like college football has. This year it is easy because there are clear cut number ones and number twos in each league. It’s not like that every year. Look at college football, they have a solid 10 teams with championship arguments. However, this article is about NFL BCS games so here we go:
1. The Obvious BCS NFL Championship game featuring the 2 undefeated teams.
Colts vs Saints in Los Angeles, CA
I placed it in L.A. because I find it ironic that both these teams have been linked to being moved to L.A.
The next 3 games are of division leaders who do not belong in the Championship game but belong in BCS bowl games.
2. Cardinals vs Vikings in Chicago
This is the 2 best NFC teams not named the Saints. I placed it in Chicago because the Cardinals once played there and the Vikings have a rival there so it is familiar turf for both franchises.
3. Chargers vs Patriots in Indianapolis
AFC consolation game. In Indy because they have a new stadium and deserve a BCS game.
4. Bengals vs Cowboys in Nashville
Nashville seemed like the logical choice of a place between Cincy and Dallas. Nashville has both Bengals and Cowboys fans. I would actual pay to see this game.
The next round of bowls are the non BCS bowls that will still generate solid ratings because they have good teams playing in them. The first 3 have teams competing for the wild card and the 4 after that are just solid teams.
5. Giants vs Steelers in Cleveland
Another game that I would pay to see. Heck, I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t. Also features the last 2 Super Bowl winners and a great QB match up.
6. Packers vs Jaguars in Hawaii
I wanted to place a good game in Hawaii, they got it.
7. Eagles vs Falcons in DC
8. Bears vs Ravens in Cleveland
Defense, young franchise qbs. Like you expected a different match up with their records.
9. Panthers vs Titans in Miami in the Kerry Collins bowl
2 teams trying to remind people why they were great last year.
10. Broncos vs Texans in Kansas City
Probably would be a good game between 2 young teams.
11. Dolpins vs Jets in the AFC East showdown in Boston
And finally the Bowl games that no one will even know are on. Because in the Mr. Cameron Rose BCS, no team is in-eligible for a bowl game.
12. Redskins vs Lions in NY in the Redskins want to avenge a bad loss Bowl.
13. Seahawks vs Bills in Calgary in the teams that belong in Canada bowl.
14. 49ers vs Raiders in San Jose, CA in the Bay Area who cares game.
15. Rams vs Browns in the Loser goes to the UFL Bowl game in Siberia.
16. Chiefs vs Buccaneers in the We Will Suck for a while bowl in Mexico
