The Padres would be stupid to move Adrian Gonzalez. He is the best player on their roster and will be their best player for the next 5-8 years. On the other hand, Heath Bell should be expendable, I believe in the Billy Beane/moneyball theory that relief pitchers are inconsistent and you should sell high. I wouldn’t trade Bell for 3 grade b prospects but I would for an elite prospect, grade b prospect, and 2 throw ins.
What people fail to realize is that trading Adrian Gonzalez would be the equivalent of the Brewers trading Prince Fielder, or the Twins trading Justin Morneau. (Those 2 players are the ones that project closely to him, baseball reference also lists Carlos Delgado, Paul Konerko,  and Fred McGriff).

For the Dodgers sake, I hope the Padres trade Adrian Gonzalez.

First it was Big Show, Carlito, Kofi, Miz, MVP, and Jack Swagger. Then it was Big Show, Carlito, Kofi, Primo, MVP, and Swagger. Today it was Kofi, MVP, Swagger, Primo, Carlito, and Miz.

An interesting note on Big Show and Jericho. When Big Show then known as the Giant and Chris Jericho were in WCW, Big Show interfered in one of Jericho’s matches to help Jericho win. What rhyme of reason was this for? Noone ever talked about it after.
In Chris Jericho’s book, he actually addressed this and said he was supposed to join the NWO but he told the writers that he wanted to be on his own. I just think its funny that they are together now. WWE does own the footage now.

Captain Obvious says they should buy:
Yankees
Red Sox
Angels
Rangers
Phillies
Dodgers

A couple solid deadline deals away from the playoffs:
White Sox
Marlins
Tigers
Brewers
Rockies

Buy, but buy carefully:
(These teams have overacheived for the most part, have a solid core and shouldn’t ruin next year for a gamble on this year that more than likely wont pay off)
Twins
Astros
Giants

Buy and Sell:
(These teams are still in the hunt but they have either already done their deals, or have underacheiving players. Those players need to go)

Devil Rays
Mariners
Braves
Cubs
Cardinals

Sell but not too much:
(These teams should be sellers, but only for players they don’t need next year because they should be competitive then)

Blue Jays
Orioles
Reds
Pirates

Destruct the team:
(These teams should coup every prospect they can get and trade everyone with value)

Indians
Royals
As
Mets – aging team that is just going further in the tank every year. Do something now before it gets worse.
Nationals
Diamondbacks
Padres

Over the past few days, I have been thinking a lot about Cliff Lee. I really don’t want him on my team if it means giving up a Roy Halladay like payoff. Their is a new rumor that has the Dodgers giving up James Loney and a major league starter for Lee and Victor Martinez: I would cry if that happened. I would not cry if Loney was traded for Martinez, but Lee is not worth Billingsley or Kershaw. Lee is too streaky, I am afraid next year he will stop this year and a half long streak and go back to being the pitcher that went to the minors. Remember before he was sent to the minors 2 years ago he had up and down streaks like this, just not Cy Young level. The only positive he has going for him is that he would move to the National League where you get a free out after every 8 batters.
The Brewers now appear to be the favorites for Jarrod Washburn.
