The Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday acquired right-handed pitcher John Meloan from the Cleveland Indians for right-hander Winston Abreu.
Meloan used to be a big time prospect. Meloan projected as a future #2 or 3 starter for the Dodgers only 2 years ago. This is an odd journey for him considering that a once top prospect was traded for a minor league journeyman who didnt even play in the majors last year.
The Indians are clearly a team that is rebuilding so why are they trading a young player for a reliever who probably wont be with the team next year? I think they would have been better off giving Meloan a chance at the relief spot.

Ron Artest will be a Laker. Wow. Even crazy ass bi polar people want to win a championship. I like this move, but only if the Lakers do not lose Lamar Odom as a result.
This move definitly means Trevor Ariza is out. The 2 have a similar skill set. Ariza is Artest lite except saner.
This move definitly is great for the Lakers, they signed away Houston’s best player. Houston, the same team that was the only team that gave the Lakers a run for their money. What was Houston thinking?
Kobe Bryant must be the happiest person alive. He has Gasol and Artest, and possibly Odom. Remember how bad Kobe wanted Artest before Pau? This has been a long time coming for the Lakers.
This move makes me think that the Lakers know Phil Jackson will come back. Is their any other coach that can handle all the egos on this team?

Bees delayed the Padres game against the Astros for 52 minutes. Can this possibly be the most exciting thing that happened in San Diego this year? Linda Cohn interviewed a reporter at the game and he said it was the most exciting thing during the game.
There were rumors that people in Anaheim could smell the ball girl’s perfume so maybe that was what attracted the bees.

Dany Heatley must be pissing the Senators off. After rejecting a trade and collecting 4 million dollars of their money today, Ottawa must be thinking: “do we really want to trade this guy? is it worth it?”
Heatley even went as far as to meet with the Edmonton people about the trade. He still said no. My guess is that he must have a specific team in mind, like the Kings. My guess is he is trying to force Ottawa into dealing him to this specific team for what it wants to trade.
